Hello, I'm Makiwo G, and I sell Warhammer in Nagano Prefecture.
This time, it's a painting article for the Von Ryan's Leaper from Weekly Warhammer.
Thank you for reading to the end.
From undercoat to base colors
The red is 'Mephiston Red', and the blue is 'Stegadon Scale Green'.
I think the colors used are the same as in the official website's examples.

Starting with a blue gradient
I painted in the order of 'Stegadon Scale Green' → 'darken with a shade color (I used Talassar Blue Shade as usual)' → 'Sotek Green' → 'Temple Guard Blue'.

The brightest area is 'Baharroth Blue'.

Finally, a gradient on the claws.

*A while ago, Hata-san advised me, "Baharroth Blue is good for blue."
He paints wonderful carapaces, so if you're a Tyranid painter (or Nidder?), you should follow him!
The carapace, which looks yellow and green, is lovely.
Deep dive into the blue gradient
Unfortunately, the camera focused on the text on the paint pot, but I took a photo of the left hand's claw being painted.
First, 'Stegadon Scale Green' → 'Sotek Green'

'Sotek Green' → 'Temple Guard Blue'

'Temple Guard Blue' → 'Baharroth Blue'

'Baharroth Blue' → 'Blue Horror'

'Blue Horror' → 'White Scar' just on the tips of the claws
Red gradient
For red, the order is 'Mephiston Red' → 'Talassar Blue Shade' → 'Evil Sunz Scarlet' → 'Wild Rider Red'.

The brightest area is 'Fire Dragon Bright'.
You can clearly see the difference if you compare it to the right leg.
Bonus ①: About the red gradient
I was always using the same red gradient, so I was looking for something different when I found a technique using 'Kislev Flesh' → 'Flayed One Flesh'.
I thought, "No, no, no, the colors are completely different," but I decided to give it a try...

"!!"
I thought there might be a big color difference between 'Fire Dragon Bright' → 'Kislev Flesh', so I'm thinking of adding an intermediate color like 'Troll Slayer Orange'.
I'll probably make a separate article about it☺
Bonus ②: Complementary colors
After deciding on blue for the carapace and red for the skin, I thought "this is probably correct color wheel-wise" and added yellow.

I decided against using pure yellow as it made it look less organic.
I safely went with 'Magos Purple' → 'Talassar Blue Shade'.
Summary
This time, it was about painting the Tyranid Von Ryan's Leaper (red and blue).
Tyranids are included in Weekly Warhammer and offer many painting opportunities, so I hope this helps someone.
If you found this article helpful, Makiwo G would be delighted if you used our store.
That's all for this time.
Have a good painting life! Cheers!
