*This content introduces products released in 2023.
Hello, I'm Makio G, selling Warhammer in Nagano Prefecture.
On July 22, 2023, various beginner-friendly starter products were released.
Previously, there were no sets that included terrain and paints, so personally,
These products are highly recommended for beginners!
is what I feel.
Those of you reading this may have seen comments on Twitter like, "Isn't the price of this product broken?"
Warhammer has not only starter sets but also "Combat Patrol," "Army Sets," and "Battleforces," which are all Warhammer sets that are significantly more economical than buying items individually.
The products I'm introducing this time are ones where two people can experience the game.
I believe that "if you've bought it, I want you to experience the game," and that's one reason why I recommend these products.
Rather than just painting a little and being done with it, I want you to play and enjoy Warhammer as much as possible.
Although there is a lot of perspective from the salesperson who sells the products, I would be happy if you stayed with me until the end.
*Added and corrected due to price increase in October 2025.
Ultimate Starter Set: ¥21,200 → ¥22,600
My personal top recommendation.
Since it includes terrain (buildings), buying this allows for a smooth transition from painting to gaming.

What's amazing is that the terrain included in this set costs ¥12,300 ¥13,400 if bought separately.

This means that the products other than the terrain, including a large number of 'miniatures' and a 'rulebook,' effectively cost just over ¥7,000.
・I recently bought a terrain-only product called 'NACHMUND'
・I haven't built any Marines or Tyranids
For these reasons, I haven't bought it, but for those who want to start Warhammer from scratch with a friend!,
"You should buy this rather than other products."
I think.
If you split the cost, it's just over ¥10,000 per person.
Paints are not included, so you'll need to purchase them separately.
Product Contents
・Core Rulebook (72 pages)
・Handbook
・10 Dice
・Range Ruler
・Decals (Stickers)
・Game Board (probably thick cardboard)
・Terrain
・Marine Miniatures (12 models)
・Tyranid Miniatures (22 models)
Starter Set: ¥10,800 → ¥12,400
This product is the 『Ultimate Starter Set』 introduced above, but with the terrain (buildings) removed and a few miniatures reduced.

This is recommended for those who
already own terrain or use items from 100-yen shops as substitutes.
While the 『Ultimate Starter Set』 at 22,600 yen is a great deal for what it includes, the 9,800 yen difference from this product is quite significant.
Also, terrain takes up a lot of storage space.
So, this product is recommended for those who think, "Let's just give it a try with two people!"
However, if you later decide you want terrain, buying it separately can be quite expensive.
Therefore, if possible, I recommend the 『Ultimate Starter Set』.
By the way, the miniatures removed from the 『Ultimate Starter Set』 are:
・Marine → Librarian
・Tyranid → Barbgaunt
Both of these are products that cost over 5,000 yen if purchased individually. The fact that this starter set costs 10,800 yen, and for an additional 19,800 yen, you get two miniatures worth over 10,000 yen combined, plus 12,300 yen worth of terrain (buildings), is just insane, in my opinion, lol. Product contents:・Handbook with rules for playing with this product
・10 dice
・Decals (stickers)
・Range ruler
・Playmat (probably paper)
・Marine miniatures (11 figures)
・Tyranid miniatures (27 figures)
Introductory Set 6800 → 7800 yen
This is the equivalent of the 『Recruit Edition』 that was available in 9th edition.
This is recommended for those who
want to try Warhammer with a friend for a bit
It includes 『Miniatures』, 『Citadel Colours』, 『Nippers』, and 『Basic Rules』 all together, and it's cheaper than if two people each bought a 『Paint Set』.
You can start Warhammer for just over 3,000 yen per person, so I believe that if you find it fun from here, you can then consider other products.
↓New 10th edition product 6,800 7,800 yen. ↓Old 9th edition product 5,800 yen. The difference between the above products is:
・10th edition = includes 『brush』, 『colors』, 『nippers』
・9th edition = includes 『small paper risers instead of terrain』 (Honestly, I only used these at the very beginning)
That's the main difference.
The number of miniatures included is almost the same, and considering that 『brush』, 『colors』, and 『nippers』 are included for an additional 1,000 yen, I think it's an incredibly good deal.
There is also a 『Paint + Tool Set』 that does not include miniatures, which costs 5,800 yen (see image below →).
If you add 1,000 yen to this, you get 16 miniatures, which makes it clear what a good deal it is.
・Handbook with rules for playing with this product (48 pages)
・Citadel paints (5)
・Brush
・Nippers
・Range ruler
・Game mat (probably paper)
・Marine miniatures (5)
・Tyranid miniatures (11)
Paint Set Series: ¥4,500 - ¥5,800
These products have been released before, and only the included miniatures have changed.
These are recommended for those who want to:
"Try Warhammer a little bit by themselves first"
Since it includes:
・About 6 paints
・A brush
you can enjoy painting with Citadel paints just by purchasing this set.
